Alive: Discipleship

This year, ALIVE will explore the practical meaning of following Jesus through the promises of our Baptismal Covenant.  

Every promise ends with the same response: “I will, with God’s help.” Discipleship requires our willing commitment, but we never undertake it alone. God gives us grace, the Holy Spirit, and the Body of Christ to help us live the way of Jesus. 

Jesus calls us by name and brings us into a community of disciples. We belong to Christ, we belong to one another, and every member has a gift to share.

We will discover prayer as an ongoing relationship with God and learn simple practices for bringing prayer into everyday life. 

Like the shepherds who shared what they had seen and heard, we will learn to proclaim the Good News of Jesus through our words, actions, and invitations.

 A disciple is a lifelong learner. We will explore Scripture, ask questions, and grow together as apprentices of Jesus.     

 We will learn how disciples respond when something goes wrong: telling the truth, repenting, forgiving, making amends, and returning to the Lord.   

We will seek and serve Christ in our neighbors through the corporal and spiritual works of mercy. 

We will consider everything God has entrusted to us—people, relationships, bodies, communities, animals, resources, and creation—and learn to care for God’s gifts faithfully.   

We will bring the entire year together, renew our Baptismal Covenant, and create a simple Rule of Life for continuing to follow Jesus.
